MSU football schedule has different look for 2016 season

There’s a different feel to the 2016 Mississippi State football season from the players on the field to the schedule laid out before them, .
With the departures of program stalwarts Dak Prescott, Chris Jones, De’Runnya Wilson and others, the Bulldogs will have a new look in 2016. The upcoming schedule will also be a bit different than what MSU fans have become accustomed to in recent years.
For the first time since 2011, the Bulldogs are slated to play just six home games. They have played seven games at Davis Wade Stadium in each of the last four seasons and had planned to do the same yet again this year before Tulane cancelled a scheduled trip to Starkville last year.
With the Green Wave backing out, State was left scrambling to fill the hole on its schedule and did so last summer by hooking up with UMass for a three-game series.
The first of those three games will come on September 24 and will take place at Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots.
“The opportunity and experience for our guys to go play at an NFL stadium is really kind of a fantastic deal,” MSU head coach Dan Mullen said two weeks ago at Southeastern Conference Media Days.
