Prior to the start of region play, the Choctaw County Chargers had a 3-2 record and weren't really sure where their season was headed.

After four weeks of Class 3A, Region 4 play, the Chargers have won all of their games and clinched the division championship Friday with a 35-8 win over South Pontotoc.

"Considering where we started and all the experts saying we were only going to win two football game, but I knew early on that we had special kids who work really hard," Choctaw County coach Ben Ashley said.

The Chargers jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead before South Pontotoc's Eddie Ivy scored on a 31-yard run with 3:43 remaining in the this quarter.

Amerious Brown had a touchdown run for Choctaw County to put the game on ice with 4:31 left in the game.

The Chargers (7-2, 4-0) will host homecoming and senior night next week with the opponent being Hatley.
