Burney James Walker

The funeral for Burney James Walker is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home with burial in the Clear Springs Cemetery. The Rev. David Fedrick will conduct the service.
Visitation for Mr. Walker is scheduled for today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Mr. Walker, 83, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 at Choctaw County Nursing Center in Ackerman. He was a retired trucker. He was an engineer in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was also a coon hunter, fisherman and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Lillibell Parker Broadway and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Zell Petty Walker of Starkville; son, Larry Walker Sr. and wife, Donna, of Brandon; grandchildren, Misty McAlpin and husband, Chad, Larry Walker Jr. and wife, Becky and James Bradley and wife, Monica; and seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Baptist Church.
