Getting job done late: Rea's eighth-inning single helps Bulldogs get 5-3 win

HOOVER, Ala. – Mississippi State was not ready to play another extra-inning game.
Wes Rea took care of that in the top of the ninth.
Rea singled to right field with the bases loaded bringing home the go ahead run and the No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs outlasted the No. 15 South Carolina Gamecocks 5-3 Wednesday night in the Bulldog's 100th Southeastern Conference Tournament game.

Extra innings remains a story on second day

HOOVER, Ala. - There was the feeling of "here we go again" during the first full game Wednesday of the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.
After Mississippi State and Missouri played 17 innings to close the first round of the event on Tuesday night that lasted into Wednesday morning, the first scheduled game on Wednesday also went into extra innings.

Andrews takes over as coach of SA program

Starkville Academy athletic director Glenn Schmidt didn't have to look far to find a replacement for the coach of the soccer program.
After the departure of Robert Gardner following the school year, Schmidt has turned to his assistant on the boys team.
Cole Andrews, a former Volunteer athlete, will assume the leadership of both the boys and girls teams at SA.

HOOVER, Ala. – It had been a while since Mississippi State or Missouri had scored a run.
The Bulldogs broke the streak with a run in the 17th inning.
The No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs edged the Missouri Tigers 2-1 in a 17-inning marathon in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
