Tuesday night Mississippi State head coach John Cohen served his one game NCAA mandated suspension stemming from the events following the series finale with Alabama.
Cohen held a rather spirited discussion with umpires following what some considered a blown call that led to the eventual 8-7 Mississippi State loss.
Wednesday afternoon the Southeastern Conference office notified Cohen his suspension would be extended to include Friday night’s showdown with No. 6 Florida. SEC commissioner Mike Slive determined Cohen violated Southeastern Conference sportsmanship rules.
The suspension also prohibits Cohen from taking part in Mississippi State’s practice on Thursday, May 10.
Any further ejection during the 2012 season will result in an automatic game suspension and the possibility of additional sanctions.
The Bulldogs are 12-12 in SEC and tied for fifth with Arkansas and Georgia in the race for seeding in the SEC Tournament.
