MABEN – It was Ty Hendrix's night on the baseball diamond for East Webster.
The Wolverines beat Pisgah 13-3 in five innings Tuesday night at the East Webster baseball field.
The Wolverines only needed Hendrix for two innings on the mound. In those two innings, he struck out four batters, walked two, gave up one hit and surrendered no runs. He improved to 4-0 for the season.
East Webster scored the first eight runs of the ballgame, putting up three in the first inning and following that up with a five run second inning.
"They didn't make a lot of errors," Wolverine head coach Wes Johnson said. "We hit a lot of balls hard and hit the ball the other way. We had several guys hit the ball hard."
The Dragons scored a run in the top of the third inning, but East Webster answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
"We came out and didn't make any errors and threw strikes for the most part," Johnson said. "(Pisgah) had a young team. We did hit the ball and played pretty well I thought."
Pisgah scored two runs in the top of the fifth, trying to send the game to the sixth inning.
East Webster put the game away when it had a three-run fifth inning.
Hendrix paced the Wolverines with three hits. Dillon Henley hit a three-run home run and had a single to get multiple hits as well.
The Wolverines improved to 8-5 for the season. They will be back in action Friday when they return the favor and travel to Pisgah.
