Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a dead body in a wooded area on Club Road near Oktibbeha County Lake Wednesday.
The body was identified as Melvin Robinson, 51, of Starkville.
According to a OCSO release, family members escorted deputies to the area where the body was found. Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt responded to the scene and found no obvious signs of foul play.
OCSO Sheriff’s Deputy Chadd Garnett said family members originally found the body.
“(The body was found) where Club Road and Walter Bell road intersect,” he said. “(The area where he was found) is a small pasture, woods and another pasture.”
The body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy. OCSO officials said the incident is still under investigation. Garnett said more information will be made available once the cause of death is determined.
