OLIVE BRANCH – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets had a strong comeback in the fourth quarter come up a little bit short as they dropped a 62-58 decision at Center Hill Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Lady Jackets saw their final record even at 13-13.
"They really showed hard work, determination and hard work during the season," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said reflecting on the season. "We lost some one or two point games, but there was a lot of maturity that developed. They did give their best and as a coach, that's all you can ask."
The Lady Jackets took a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter against Center Hill, but SHS was outscored 19-7 in the second quarter and trailed 29-19 at halftime.
Center Hill was up 45-34 at the end of three quarters when the Lady Jackets outscored their host 24-17 to get back into the game.
"We were actually down by 18 points so to come back and only lose by four, you can't fault their effort," Williams said.
Brittany Brown scored 27 points to lead SHS, while Imane Montgomery and Janay Townsel added 10 points each.
