MACON – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets jumped out to a big lead and went on to defeat the Noxubee County Tigerettes 52-39 on the road Saturday night.
Starkville, which improved its overall record to 10-9, held a 32-12 advantage at halftime and out-scored its host 11-8 in the third quarter. The Lady Jackets lost the fourth quarter 19-9, but had established a cushion with their early play in the game.
Janay Townsel scored 20 points to pace the SHS scoring attack and she has 41 points in the last two games. Kelsye Reed added nine points for the Lady Jackets.

The Yellowjackets led from start to finsh.
They jumped out to a 26-17 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Their lead was cut down to 10 at halftime at 39-29.
They used a strong third quarter to put the game out of reach.
SHS had four players in double figures. Jacobly Mobley led the Jackets with 22 points. Gavin Ware added 19 points, Tory Rice chipped in 15 points and Steven Brand registered 12 points.
