DEKALB – The Starkville Academy Volunteers overcame a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to collect a win.
The Volunteers out-lasted Kemper Academy 62-46 on Tuesday night.
The Vols trailed 16-6 after the first quarter. They out-scored the Rams 15-6 in the second quarter to only trail by one heading into the locker room.
The Volunteers took charge in the second half. They outscored Kemper 41-24 in the second half to take the victory. They scored 23 of those 41 points in the final frame.
Zack Thomas led the Vols with 17 points. Jon Michael Robinson chipped in 13 and Austin Kinard added 11.
Starkville Academy improved its record to 7-9 for the year.

DEKALB – The Lady Volunteers used strong defense to improve their record to 16-3 this season.
Starkville Academy out-scored Kemper Academy 19-2 in the first quarter to take control of the game early.
The Lady Rams only reached double digits for a quarter once when they scored 11 points in the second. They were held to six and eight points in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
Sophomore Nora Carroll was the lone Lady Vol to score in double figures with 13 points.
