Game week preparations are underway for the Mississippi State Bulldogs as they wrapped up their third day of work on the game plan for Wake Forest.
Senior quarterback Chris Relf has been taking all the snaps as Tyler Russell continues to rest his sprained right knee.
Relf will be the starter and is likely to be the only quarterback the Bulldogs feature in the game.
Mullen confirmed that Dak Prescott will not play in the Music Bowl, no matter what happened. Rightfully so, as this would burn the redshirt season he would be due having not played a snap during the regular season.
MSU will wrap up their first week of game prep today before they leave for Christmas break.
The Bulldogs report to Memphis one week from today for their first day of work from the bowl site.
Heavens returns
MSU junior receiver Brandon Heavens returned to the team on Saturday after missing the opening week of practice.
Heavens was handling a personal matter but is now expected to be on hand for Mississippi State’s matchup with the Demon Deacons.
The Bessemer Ala., native collected 10 passes for 114 yards and one score during the 2011 season.
Ruff transferring
Defensive back Asian Ruff of the Bulldogs is transferring to Itawamba Community College.
Ruff has not seen action at MSU and will seek more playing time at the junior college level.
Senior bowling
MSU senior tailback Vick Ballard received a much-deserved invitation to the Senior Bowl.
Ballard has gained 1,009 yards on 179 carries this season with eight touchdowns. He has caught 18 passes for 178 yards and another score.
