Mr. James Elton Long died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.
Mr. Long was a self-employed logger and heavy equipment operator. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Long was a member of the Sturgis Baptist Church, was a mason and a member of the Sturgis Lodge No. 365.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Sturgis Baptist Church, with Rev. Russell Mord and Rev. Steve Lammons officiating.
Burial will follow at Sturgis Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Sturgis Baptist Church.
Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Sarah Jackson Long; a son, John Long, and his wife, LeAnne, of Starkville; a daughter, Laura Smith, of Sturgis; a sister, Frances Murphy, of Greenwood; and a granddaughter, Mary Audrey Long.
Memorials may be sent to State Veterans Hospital in Kosciusko or Sturgis Baptist Church.
