Eric Hallberg of Cappe’s Steak House said one of the biggest compliments they receive is for their customer service, but Starkville residents love their steaks.
Cappe’s Steak House was named Best Steaks in Starkville in this year’s Starkville Daily News Reader’s Poll.
“My customers tell me everyday I have the prettiest and sweetest girls that work at Cappe’s than anywhere else in the world,” Hallberg said. “I am a true believer that all business’ start with service and is backed up with great food.”
Some of Starkville’s favorite dinner dishes at Cappe’s is the filet, ribeye, grilled shrimp and grilled chicken.
But for lunch, the sweet potato casserole is by far their best seller. “Everyone says it’s the best they have had anywhere and better than momma’s,” Hallberg said.
As for personal favorites, Hallberg said he loves the hamburger steak, chicken spaghetti and cream corn.
“And of course the best kept secret is John’s homemade bbq sauce that we use for our BBQ chicken on thursday for lunch,” Hallberg said. “And we have a high demand for (BBQ chicken) also with catering jobs we do.”
Cappe’s has been catering for about four years and are now heavy into wedding receptions. Head chef, John Thompson, is Cappe’s brother and he is in charge of everything that gets cooked at lunch, dinner and the catering business.
“For weddings, we cook, shrimp and grits, pork tenderloin, marinated shrimp, if you want it cooked we can get it done, rather it be 10 people or 1,000,” Hallberg said. “Our next step is to keep up what we have started and continue to give excellent service backed by great food. This is the reason our catering has taking off and growing at a high pace.”
