Marlene Beam Whatley, 88, of Greenwood passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home chapel.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Rev. Dennis McKay will officiate.
She was a member of Phillipston Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Whatley, who was a former longtime Leflore County Sheriff’s Deputy and a farmer. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Jeremy Edward Langley.
Mrs. Whatley is survived by her daughters, Martha Whatley Taylor and husband Allen of Starkville and Sarah Whatley Langley of Carrollton. Four grandchildren, Alison Taylor Morgan and Jennifer Taylor Pipkins both of Hattiesburg, Roane Arlene Corley of Greenwood and James “Jamie” Langley of Carrollton; four great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Timothy "Tim” Morgan, Albert “Bo” Pipkins, James “Jamie” Langley, Timothy “T.J.” Langley, Christopher “Chris” Langley and Ronald “Ronnie” Barry Sanders.
