MADDEN – The Starkville Academy Volunteers were able to improve their record to 4-0 in a big way by defeating Leake Academy 42-14 Friday night.

After Leake took a 7-0 advantage in the first quarter, Mann scored the first of his touchdowns for the Vols on a 5-yard run with 2:36 left in the opening frame. Jonathon Burton's first of six extra point kicks tied the game.
In the second quarter, Mann had an 8-yard TD run and quarterback Drew Pellum found running back James Mapp for a 38-yard scoring pass to put SA up 21-7 at halftime.
The Vols got the only touchdown of the third quarter on a 2-yard Mann run.
Leake closed the gap to 28-14 early in the fourth frame, but Starkville Academy got the needed cushion with two big scoring plays, a 58-yard run by Mann and a 39-yard run by Brandon Sharp.
The Vols rolled up 457 yards of total offense with 396 of that coming on the ground. Pellum rushed 15 times for 118 yards.
