The Starkville Academy Junior Volunteers scored 12 points without the offense even seeing the field Thursday night.
It was a pretty good sign that it was going to be a pretty good night for Starkville Academy at home against Hillcrest Christian.
The Junior Vols moved out to a 39-0 by halftime and went on to defeat Hillcrest 53-0.
"They gave a great effort and we were able to play a bunch of kids that don't get to play a whole lot," Starkville Academy coach Chad Peterson said. "It just seems like they get better and better.
"We are at the halfway point and we're 4-0 with Heritage next week with three-straight conference games after that so they are all big ones."
Houston Clark gave the Junior Vols their first touchdown when he picked off a pass and returned it 19 yards for a score with 7:05 remaining in the first quarter, then Drew Harrell intercepted a pass and brought it back 58 yards for a score at the 4:28 mark of the first quarter.
The other first half touchdowns for SA were an 8-yard run by Harrell, a 32-yard run by Clark, a 50-yard punt return for Hunter Peeples, and a 5-yard run by Blake Slaughter.
In the second half, Joel Ray scored on a 48-yard run for the Junior Vols, while Hayden Henderson added a 7-yard touchdown run.
Starkville Academy's games at Heritage next week will be played on Tuesday night.
