Want to win $30 in these hard economic times? Visit the Maben Farmers’ Market on Fridays from 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. for a chance to win every time you spend $5 with a vendor.
The market is giving away $30 each week in a drawing at 9:30 a.m. Market volunteers will give a chance ticket for each $5 spent, and ticket holders will write their names and phone numbers on the ticket and put it in the pot for the drawing. At 9:30 a.m., a name will be drawn, and if the winner is present at the time of the drawing, he or she will also win a bonus prize of $20, bringing the grand total to $50.
Two vendors who often participate in the market are Ted Cole and Dr. Vanik Eaddy. Cole has come to the Maben Farmers’ Market with an amazing assortment of handcrafted wood art. He and his wife, Rita, live in Mantee and raise vegetables in a large garden, but woodworking is his passion. Rita decorates his handiwork with fanciful and colorful painted flowers, blue birds, and MSU objects. He has been known to take orders for special items.
Dr. Vanik Eaddy from Starkville offers sweet Eaddy Honey samples of his beekeeper trade. In the picture of him under his tent you see the large “shofar” horn that he blew to open the Market on July 29. This particular horn is made in Israel from the horn of a Kudu, native of East Africa. Stop by his booth and ask him about this historically biblical instrument. Dr. Eaddy will be taking a group to Israel later this year and has brochures to describe details of the trip. Notice that he offers his customers the convenience of using SNAP Benefits and EBT cards when purchasing jars of his natural honey.
Come to Maben and shop in the shade on the lot next to the Post Office. There is no cost to vendors, but they must register to participate. Call (662) 263-8458 for more information.
