Starkville’s Miss Hospitality Mary Lowry Nemeth has been preparing for this night since late March.
She has been reading newspapers, watching the news and learning all she can about events pertaining to Mississippi in preparation for the 62nd annual Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality. The final competition will be held tonight at the Historic Saeger Theatre in Downtown Hattiesburg.
Twenty-eight local Miss Hospitalities from around the state will compete for more than $100,00 in scholarships and prizes and the opportunity to represent Mississippi as a Goodwill Ambassador. Last year’s Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality has traveled over 30,000 miles to promote economic development and tourism for Mississippi, including to New York to celebrate the 32nd Annual Mississippi Day in Central Park.
Throughout this week, Nemeth, along with the other contestants have taken part in rehearsals, tours, interviews and special events as they prepare for competition.
Nemeth is excited about the possibilities and looking forward to tonight’s competition.
She is the daughter of Mike and Renee Nemeth of Starkville. Nemeth is interested in graduating from Mississippi State University and going to nursing school to concentrate on neonatal intensive care.
“We are thrilled for Mary Lowry to represent Starkville as Miss Hospitality,” said Vicki Burnett, director of Starkville’s Miss Hospitality Pageant in a recent interview. “She represents Starkville with sophistication and elegance. She has a lovely personality. She is charming and intelligent.”
“She is also a great role model, and that is what you look for in a Miss Hospitality contestant,” said Tori Ferguson, emcee for the pageant and former Starkville Miss Hospitality.
