In announcing his candidacy for Oktibbeha County District 1 supervisor, Ed Whitehurst Jr. made the following statement:
“I would like to introduce myself. I am Ed Whitehurst Jr., and I am running as a Republican candidate for the Oktibbeha County District 1 supervisor. I have been a resident of District 1 since my early childhood. I currently own my own business, EZ Auto Sales Tire and Service Center. I also worked at Starkville Ford for 10 years as a sales representative.
I am married to Melinda Odom Whitehurst. We have two wonderful children, Summer and Blake. We also have two granddaughters, Kayleigh and Kristen. Our family roots are planted strongly here in Oktibbeha County.
“I feel there is a need for change in our Board of Supervisors. I have over 20 years of experience in sales and service, working with the public and working on a tight budget within my own business. This is why I feel I possess the skills needed to be a good supervisor. I am honest, hard working, accessible, and I will be accountable for the decisions made. I believe we need to find ways to cut expenses without cutting services, raising taxes or putting expenses on citizens. We need to run our county like a business and make good common sense conservative decisions.
“If I have missed seeing you personally please forgive me. I am still working to see as many people as possible. On Aug. 2, I ask you as a citizen to voice your opinion by getting out and voting. I ask that your vote and support be for me, Republican candidate, Ed Whitehurst Jr.”
