Morse seeks post of Constable District 1

In announcing his candidacy for the office of Oktibbeha County Constable, District 1, Joe Morse made the following statement:
“The job of constable is very important with the Justice Court. The work load of the Justice Court is growing each year and many feel the Constable should be available on a full-time basis rather than a part-time basis.
“I am ready to take that step forward for the people of Oktibbeha County and work full-time as a constable.
“I started working with the Sheriff’s Department over 34 years ago, as Auxiliary/Part-Time Deputy, working as a road deputy, radio dispatcher, jailer and bailiff for the courts.
“I have worked full-time with the Sheriff Department since May 2007 and am now the transport officer and the sex offender register officer.
“Prior to this I served in the U.S. Navy for six years and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer. I was in sales for over 30 years and may be known to some people as ‘The Redman’ or ‘The Wolfman.’ I have been a resident of Mississippi for most of my life and a resident of Oktibbeha County for over 38 1/2 years. I have been married to Patsy Josey Morse for 39 years and we are the parents of two daughters, Valerie Morse Sims and Mandy Morse Fosmire. They attended Starkville Public Schools.
“It would be a great honor for me to serve the people of Oktibbeha County as District 1 Constable. I will work with all Law Enforcement Departments to help Oktibbeha County be a safe place to live for all ages.
“I know the value of being fair and honest with people and I will be fair and honest with everyone. This is my home too.
“If I miss speaking with you in person I sincerely ask for your vote and support at this time.
“I am a Democrat candidate in the primary. I am the only candidate serious enough to make the constable job full-time for the court, as well as for the people.
“Please - as a proud American - go to the polls and vote August 2 and November 8.
