GULFPORT — Eleanor Toombs Shuman, 87, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Charleston Ridge Seniors’ Home in Las Vegas. She was born in Gulfport, was a former longtime resident of the coast, a former resident of Starkville for 32 years, and a resident of Las Vegas, Nev. for five and a half years. She was a graduate of Gulfport High School and she was Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry I. Toombs, Sr. and Linnie Parker Toombs; and a sister, Louisa Aikin.
Mrs. Shuman is survived by her husband, Fred L. Shuman, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Fred L. Shuman, III of Kingman, Ariz. and Martin I. Shuman (Sharon) of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Henry I. Toombs, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Friday, April 1, at 3 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, on 15th Street, in Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
