The Veranda wins the Souper Bowl

The Veranda Restaurant wins the Best Overall Soup at Saturday’s Souper Bowl.
Harvey’s took first place. Aramark placed second and The Ritz placed third in Saturday’s competition.
The fourth annual event, sponsored by the Starkville Young Professionals, was held from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at State Theatre. All proceeds from the event benefit the United Way of Oktibbeha County.
Local restaurants put up their favorite soup recipes for the public to taste and vote on their favorites. Organizers said Souper Bowl winners receive public love and adoration, as well as over-sized soup bowls to display in their restaurants.
Official fund-raising totals from the event were not available at press time.
