One of Mississippi’s favorite television personalities will be in town Thursday for a special book signing.
Walt Grayson, long-time reporter for WLBT-TV Channel 3 in Jackson, is best known for “Looking Around Mississippi.”
He is also the host of Mississippi Educational Television’s program “Mississippi Roads.”
Grayson will be in Starkville Thursday afternoon to sign copies of his fourth book, “Oh! That Reminds Me: More Mississippi Stories With Walt Grayson.”
The book signing is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Book Mart and Cafe in downtown Starkville.
Grayson said this book is really the third in a series of Mississippi picture books underwritten by the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi. The proceeds from book sales goes into the Electric Power Associations of Mississippi scholarship fund.
The readers of “Today In Mississippi,” the Power Associations’ newspaper, were invited to submit photos for this book, but Grayson said he snuck in five or six of his favorite photos.
“Along with whatever they wrote about their pictures, I was allowed to add a related story or some other association from my meanderings around Mississippi that their photo brought to mind,” Grayson said.
Grayson said one of his favorite parts of the book is the chance to tell of an experience with his granddaughter, Taylor, while going to the ghost town of Rodney to get a picture of one of the old churches there, and looking for a restroom in the wilderness.
Other books by the author include “Jackson the Good Life,” “Looking Around Mississippi with Walt Grayson,” as well as “Looking Around Mississippi Some More! With Walt Grayson.”
For additional information about Thursday’s book signing event, contact the Book Mart and Cafe at 323-2844 or stop by the store on Main Sreet.
