The city’s Transportation Committee is inviting local residents to participate in their discussions on improving pedestrian access around Starkville.
The committee will meet Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Gillespie Street Center.
Committee members anticipate the meeting to be open and informal with the primary goal of engaging community discussion into the purpose, objectives, limitations and practical solutions to the issues of pedestrian connectivity in Starkville.
The committee plans to have a brief presentation on the existing sidewalk ordinance and the proposed changes.
The goal of this meeting is to gain community feedback in order to best address the concerns of the greater Starkville community in regards to how city officials deal with pedestrian and accessibility related issues, members say.
Members of the committee want to address the scope and limitations of what is possible and practical with the existing ordinance structure.
