Following a successful first year, the second edition of Pumpkinpalooza has been set for Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Starkville.
Sponsored by the newly formed Starkville Main Street Association, along with contributing sponsors Greater Starkville Development Partnership and Starkville Community Market, officials are expecting an even larger crowd over last year’s event, which saw more than 2,500 attend.
The free event will feature activities such as trick-or-treating to Main Street merchants, pumpkin patch featuring locally grown pumpkins from D&G Farms, face painting by Dandy Doodlez, pumpkin painting station by Starkville Area Arts Council, inflatable jumpers, MSU pep-rally with appearances by MSU Athletic Director Scott Stricklin and Bully, Halloween music by WMSV & Thurlow’s Party to Go, window decorating contest by Main Street merchants, restaurant specials for kids in costumes, and Starkville Community Market vendors selling baked goods and fall produce.
Following Pumpkinpalooza, the Starkville Community Market will host a late-night outdoor movie at 8:30 p.m. at the Starkville Community Market location on the corner of Jackson and Lampkin Streets.
“Pumpkinpalooza was a huge success last year, especially for a first year event, and we were so pleased to see the large amount of local families, visiting MSU fans, and even fans from the opposing team join us Downtown for a quality, family-friendly event. We anticipate this year to be even bigger and better than last year,” said Jennifer Gregory, GSDP vice president for tourism development and Starkville Main Street manager.
