LAFAYETTE, La. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs couldn't score with less than two outs Friday afternoon.
They sure did the trick when there were two outs.
The No. 21 Bulldogs scored all five runs with two outs as they beat San Diego State 5-2 in the first game of the Lafayette (La.) Regional at M.L. Tigue Moore Field.
"Scoring five runs with two outs is huge," MSU head coach John Cohen said. "That is a sign of maturity. That is what happened last year. We scored a ton of two-out runs, especially in Omaha. I think that is just a sign of these guys having been there."
The No. 2 seed Bulldogs will play No. 4 seed Jackson State, which defeated No. 1 seed Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0, today at 6 p.m. in a winner's bracket game.
