From the moment Mississippi State started recruiting Brandon McBride, it was clear he was going to be a top-notch athlete.
Just how good he was going to be was still yet to be seen.
“We recruited Brandon out of Windsor, Canada, just over the border from Detroit,” MSU track and field coach Steve Dudley said. “When we started recruiting him, he was a very, very good athlete but after we signed him is when he really busted through. He was fifth at the World Junior Championships that summer. He was already highly recruited athlete when we started, but he became even more after that summer. Fortunately for us, we already had him signed.”
McBride arrived in Starkville that fall ready to compete and ready to prove himself as a college athlete. The freshman did just that earning a spot on the NCAA Championship team for the indoor season.
