Mississippi State baseball fans have been looking forward to the 2014 season since the last out was recorded at the College World Series last June.
The wait is over as the No. 2 Bulldogs start the campaign today with the first of three games against Western Carolina.
The Bulldogs were supposed to play Hofstra, but due to the winter weather that has hit the south and east coast, the scheduled opponent was unable to make it to Mississippi.
Tonight's contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game will begin at 4 p.m. and Sunday's finale is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. first pitch.
MSU finished as national runner-up at the College World Series, the best finish in school history.
This year's Bulldogs have a great many expectations.
"Our kids are really focused," MSU head coach John Cohen said. "It's a great group to work with. We have tremendous leadership."
