Starkville Academy girls basketball coach Glenn Schmidt refers to Madison-Ridgeland Academy as the one of the best teams in the league.
On Saturday afternoon, her Lady Volunteers tipped off against the Lady Patriots and after a hard fought contest, it was MRA coming out victorious 34-33.
“I hate we didn’t win the game because we had such a great defensive effort,” Schmidt said. “To hold them to 34 points is tremendous defense. They scored 56 points on us the first time. They played equally as good on defense. There is no one thing that you can say won or lost the game. It is an accumulation of things. I am so proud of the girls for the way they came out and played. It was just a great basketball game and we didn’t win it.”
