Samuel Butler has one thing on his mind on the basketball court.
The East Webster senior spends every moment going full speed while doing whatever necessary to help his team succeed.
“I just go out there and play my hardest,” Butler said. “I am always seeing what I can do to improve my game and get us ready for the next game.”
Corey Stidham, coach of the Wolverines, has been privileged to witness the improvement in Butler’s games over the years.
From what began as a young athlete who “could just shoot,” Stidham has watched the senior grow into an all-around athlete with “good ball-handling skills who can see the floor” and who now stands proud as the team leader.
“He has been a good senior leader like we needed him to be,” Stidham said. “He is going to give you what he has when he is on the floor. He is all out and the other guys feed off him. He plays off emotion and it is something the other guys look up to. They go with his flow.”
