Ramsey Partners of Starkville rescinded its rezoning application Thursday for a 486-acre residential/retail development on South Montgomery, City Planner Buddy Sanders confirmed. But that has far from ended the firm’s plans to bring the development to fruition.
Sanders said Ramsey Partners had applied to rezone four lots, totaling 486 acres, of property near the city limits boundary on South Montgomery from agricultural to “planned unit development,” a status that allows mixed-use development. The rezone would make way for a 900-unit residential development that would also include a “village center” for light retail, such as salons, coffee shops, doctor’s offices, insurance agencies, etc.
