It has been a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with the Mississippi State football team this season.
After losing 21-3 to Oklahoma State in Houston, Texas, in week one, the Bulldogs came home and rolled over Alcorn State 51-7.
MSU traveled to Auburn, Ala., next to take on the Tigers. After leading for much of the second half, the Bulldogs lost in the final minute and fell to Auburn 24-20.
This past Saturday, State blew out Troy 62-7 at Davis Wade Stadium.
MSU head coach Dan Mullen wants his team to get better and improve on being consistent.
"I've told them we just have to continue to get better," Mullen said after Tuesday's practice. "It's an interesting challenge for us this week. We lose a game where we don't play very well in the first game, (then) we respond, get better and come play a real good game. We responded from playing a good game and actually still improved the next week, but had a really tough loss. We responded from that and improved again. If we don't continue to improve from week to week, we'll never expect to win any more games."
