The state legislature enacted a law requiring restaurants to inform patrons whether they serve U.S.-raised catfish or foreign catfish-like product. But, for many Starkville restaurants, this new law does not change their policies.
Tyler Thames, also known as Chef Ty, and owner of multiple restaurants including Restaurant Tyler, said his restaurants had always served Mississippi-grown catfish. While the new law would not affect his restaurants, he said it was an important and necessary move on the legislature's part.
