John Cohen usually uses the summer to reflect of the season just finished, recruit and help with camps.
The Mississippi State head coach is coming off his fifth year of coaching the Bulldogs, but this summer has been anything but normal for Cohen.
The Bulldogs were one of the last two teams standing in college baseball. MSU made its ninth appearance in the College World Series this June.
They made it all the way to the national championship series before being swept by the UCLA Bruins.
The MSU season ended in late June, and that has already put the Bulldogs behind the eight-ball.
"The starting gun has gone off," Cohen said Thursday at a baseball camp. "Believe it or not, we're behind.
"Every team that gets home from Omaha is behind. The other schools in your area are going in to see these kids, they're pressuring them offers and things of that nature. You're penalized a little bit for going deeper into the postseason."
