Firefighters with the Starkville Fire Department are learning the ins and outs of the city’s new ladder truck technology this week. Chief Rodger Mann said the crew would begin training today on the truck’s operations and pump system. The city obtained the new truck on May 29, a replacement for the 28-year-old Engine No. 2.
“We want to familiarize the guys with the truck and its operations,” Mann said. “There’s a critical need for a smooth transition … That’s a $750,000 truck. We’ve got to know the people operating it know what they’re working with. We can’t just assume.”
