To some, it’s an opportunity to enjoy a longer weekend, grill out and relax. However, Capt. Charles C. Moore, commanding officer at the Naval air station in Meridian and keynote speaker at this year’s Memorial Day ceremony at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse, hopes it will be more than that for every U.S. citizen.During his address, Moore said a key component in evaluating a nation’s greatness was in how citizens appreciate and honor soldiers’ sacrifice. Education and outreach, he said, were the best ways to cultivate and maintain a dedicated citizenry.
