James Braswell

Mr. James D. Braswell, 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Meadowview Baptist Church in Starkville with Rev. Jason Middleton, Rev. Jason Green and Rev. Gene Neal officiating.
Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Kilmichael.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at the church prior to services.
Oliver Funeral Home of Winona is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Braswell was the son of the late James Melvin and Mary Catherine Hancock Braswell. He was a retired insurance broker and a member and deacon of Meadowview Baptist Church. Mr. Braswell was also a member of Gideons International and a veteran of the Air National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Overstreet Braswell of Starkville; daughter, Melissa Braswell Powers (Phillip) of Monterey, Calif.; son, James M. Braswell of Midland, Texas; sister, Phyllis Alford (Son) of Vaiden; brothers, Jerry Braswell (Wanda) of Covington, La. and Terry Braswell of Kilmichael; and two grandchildren, Kailee B. Powers and Kyle J. Powers of Monterey, Calif.

Pallbearers will be Seth Rogers Jr., Jerry Rogers, Josh Braswell, Brad Beckwith, Matt Surrells and Rev. Gene Neal.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wings of Eagles Sunday School Class of Meadowview Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International or to Meadowview Baptist Church, Building by Faith, 300 Linden Circle, Starkville, MS 39759.
