JACKSON – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers didn't waste any time getting a lead on Hillcrest Christian School Tuesday night and went on to defeat their hosts 67-30.
Starkville Academy, which improved to 24-0, jumped out to a 19-2 advantage and increased the margin to 39-16 at halftime.
Sallie Kate Richardson just missed a double-double for the Lady Vols with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Also scoring in double digits for SA were Anna Lea Little with 12 points, Nora Kathryn Carroll and Maggie Proffitt with 11 points each. Tiffany Huddleston was credited with 12 rebounds.
The Lady Vols made 27 of 66 shots from the field, including six 3-point field goals, and they missed only one free throw in eight attempts.
Starkville Academy's boys also played at Hillcrest Tuesday night, but those results were not available at press time.
