Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt pleaded guilty Tuesday to one charge of driving under the influence in Lowndes County Justice Court.
Hunt, 46, was arrested Nov. 8 in Columbus and charged with his first DUI and careless driving.
He was not in a county owned vehicle at the time of his arrest.
Hunt was sentenced to six months probation, three random drug and alcohol screenings and mandatory Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program classes. He must also pay a $600 fine and $297 in court costs.
His careless driving charge was dismissed.
According to a press release, Hunt, of 2389 Silver Ridge Road in Starkville, was on U.S. Highway 82 East in Columbus at the time of his arrest.
He was released on a $1,075 bond.
