The surroundings will be familiar for the Starkville High School cross country team on Saturday.
In their second run of the season, the Yellowjackets and Lady Jackets hit the path at the Mississippi Horse Park for home action.
SHS cross country coach Caroline Woomer was proud of how the team performed in the first race of the season and looks forward to hosting a home event.
"Our runners are a lot more mature than last year and are running smart," Woomer said. "They are training hard. I look forward to Saturday because it's kind of a home meet for us, but we're looking to get better at every meet."
Kate Mattox earned a top 10 place finish as the first Lady Jacket across at the Twilight meet and was followed by Walker Mattox, Shanika Musser, Abigail Arinder and Anna Jackson.
"Those are all girls to keep an eye on," Woomer said.
On the boys side, Starkville was led by Joseph MacGown, Damian Grady, Alex Ross, Ethan Musser and freshman Nathan Methvin. Woomer said Methvin "did a really good job for a first run."
Saturday's races begins with boys varsity at 9:30 a.m., then the girls varsity follows at 10:15 a.m.
Woomer said the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
"We'd love to have people out there," Woomer said.
