Mr. Edward Wayne Vaughan, 86, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at Center Grove Baptist Church in Maben with Rev. Randle Poss officiating.
Burial will follow at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Growing up a farmer, he attended Maben High School. With the Navy taking him from the classroom, his mother accepted his high school diploma on his behalf while he was serving overseas.
Wayne was a sailor in WW II where he served in Okinawa and the Battle of the Philippine Islands. He was a carpenter for several years before working for the Housing Department at Mississippi State University for over 20 years.
He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Wayne Vaughan (Beverly) and Don Rodney Vaughan (Sharon); sister, Katheleen Vaughan Carlson; brother-in-law, Elton Shurden (Ruby); grandchildren, Rockford Wayne Vaughan (Ellie), Victoria Noelle Vaughan, Quintin Kyle Vaughan, Paul Benjamin Vaughan; and great grandson, Ryder Wayne Vaughan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duff and Velma Vaughan; and his wife of 58 years, Martha Lou Shurden Vaughan.
Memorial donations may be made to the Center Grove Baptist Church.
