Leon Shook

Mr. Leon Usco Shook, 70, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Sturgis.
Visitation will be held 1 p.m Saturday before the service at Welch Funeral Home.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shook was born Oct. 7, 1941.
Other than the love for his family, he had a great passion for fishing and gardening and most of all, helping others.  He was generous with his vegetable garden and believed in helping family and friends alike.  He enjoyed his job with MSU Shuttle Operations and getting to know the students he came in contact with.  Leon had a great laugh and loved making others laugh, as well.  He will be remembered with great love and affection.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Fulgham Shook of Sturgis; brother, Wayne Shook (Wanda) of Douglassville, Ga; sister, Wanda Shook Grantham (Tommy)of Douglasville, Ga; sons, Larry Shook (Jenna), Gene Shook (Lisa), Lee Shook (Christie), and Sam Dawkins (Gina).  He was dearly loved by twelve grandchildren and a host of other extended family and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his mother and father, Usco Shook and Gertrude Blankenship Shook; brothers, Larry Shook, Leroy Shook, Wendall Shook, William Shook; and sister, Shirley Ann Shook. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Antioch Baptist Church at 4285 Pleasant Hill Road, Sturgis, MS  39769.
