A fugitive from Lafayette, La. is in custody at Oktibbeha County Jail and charged with four counts of burglary and one count of auto burglary.
Arthur Clay Savoy, 28, was arrested in apartment 5308 of the Lakeside Apartments complex Wednesday after Starkville police officers conducted a search warrant there. His bond has been set at $125,000 — $25,000 for each charge.
SPD Detective Scott Carrithers said he was notified Savoy has arrest warrants for possession of stolen property in St. Martin Parish as well as a burglary warrant in Lafayette.
“He pointed out things to us that he had stolen over the course of the last month and a half since he’s been in Starkville. He just moved to Starkville from Lafayette ... over the last month and a half,” Carrithers said. “All of these items have been stolen over the area surrounding the Lakeside Apartment Complex.”
Among other items confiscated in the search were marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. Carrithers said there are no drug charges at this time.
SPD officers confiscated include two laptop computers, watches, multiple video game consoles, two TVs, two phones, two iPods, checks, video games, a stereo system, DVDs as well as a DVD player, magazines, backpacks, jewelry, athletic collector cards, a pair of handcuffs and a set of facial groomers.
Carrithers said the total amount of money all the stolen items were worth ranges between $5,000-$10,000.
“We’ve already identified some of the victims and had them identify their belongings. Right now we’re waiting to get the items back to them once we get the OK from the District Attorney’s office,” Carrithers said.
Anyone with more information is asked to call SPD at 662-323-0393 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
