According to various sources Rodney Hood will transfer to Duke.
The 2011 Gatorade Player of the Year made his announcement Saturday night. He joins head coach Mike Krzyzewski, the winningest coach in college basketball, and the rest of the Blue Devils who lost to Lehigh 75-70 in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. He will have to sit out one year per NCAA rules, but will be able to practice and enroll in shcool.
Hood averaged 10.3 points and 4. 8 rebounds last season in rout to a selection on the SEC All-Freshman First Team for Mississippi State. Hood played high school ball at Meridian.
Hood had narrowed his choices to Duke and Ohio State and was set to announce his decision this week.
The 6 foot 8 guard was one of five highly touted recruits in last year's class. Only forward Roquez Johnson remains.
Hood suffered a knee injury in the 73-64 loss to Kentucky in late February. He missed the next game against Alabama, and played right at 21 minutes per game the rest of the season.
Hood who was recruited by recently retired head coach Rick Stansbury, but waited until he met new Bulldog head coach Rick Ray before making the decision to transfer. He continued to practice with the team during while the spring semester commenced.
