Phillip Glenn Hudson, 56, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012.
Graveside services will be private.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, and from 4-6 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Phil was born on August 12, 1955 in Fort Knox, Ky. to Glenn Hudson and Carol Hamilton Hudson. He spent his growing up years and early adult life in Tupelo where he attended public schools and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1974. He was active in Boy Scout Troop 12 and high school activities.
He grew up in Parkway Baptist Church in Tupelo and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Starkville. He later attended Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University.
Phil's early work was in the family businesses, Sherer's Drive Inn. A patriotic American, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in active duty for four years and served in the Navy reserves thereafter many years. He spent 20 years as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the Starkville area and worked several years working for Walmart in Starkville.
Phil was an avid reader of science fiction and westerns, enjoyed watching movies and eating homemade ice cream.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Anglin Hudson of Starkville; daughters, Melinda and Nancy Hudson, both of Starkville; sons, Jared Hudson of Fayetteville, Ark. and Jordan Hudson (Valoree) of Denver, Colo.; father, Glenn Hudson of Tupelo; siblings, Susan Hudson Dudley (Brian) and Mark Hudson (Cathy), all of Tupelo and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Hamilton Hudson.
