HOOVER, Ala. – There was a fan shouting a unique nickname out to Mississippi State's Adam Frazier during his at-bat against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Tuesday.
In reference to the old television show Adam 12, that's what the Bulldog with the No. 12 on his jersey heard.
Locating Frazier hasn't been too difficult lately as he can usually be found on the basepath.
Frazier reached base in his first four at-bats in the 9-1 victory against Arkansas and had a string of seven consecutive at-bats to reach ended by grounding out in the ninth.
"I just try to get on base every time I get up to the plate," Frazier said. "I look for a fastball early in the count and try not to miss it. I just feel comfortable every at-bat."
Porter plunked again
There was a reason MSU designated hitter Trey Porter took more time than usual trotting down to first base in the ninth inning.
Taking pitches off various parts of his body is probably beginning to hurt a little bit.
Porter was hit by a pitch for the 15th time this season, which leads the team. It's the 91st time this season that a Bulldog has been hit by a pitch.
The six-run ninth inning for MSU was the biggest run total against conference competition this season.
The Bulldogs are coming off a five-run frame against Kentucky on Saturday.
Double play Dogs
Mississippi State turned double play No. 60 of the season in the fifth inning.
With the bases loaded pitcher Brandon Woodruff tossed to home plate to get the first out, then catcher Mitch Slauter completed the play with the successful throw to first baseman Wes Rea.
The Bulldogs added another double play in the seventh inning to up their season total to 61.
Rea's bomb rare
for Hog Stanek
The three-run homer by MSU's Rea was only the second given up by Arkansas' Stanek this season.
Former Mississippi State player Mitch Moreland of Amory was recognized in the middle of the sixth inning in the SEC's Players in the Pros segment.
Moreland helped the Bulldogs reach the 2007 College World Series, then was drafted in the second round by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have made the Major League Baseball World Series the last two years.
During his senior year at MSU, Moreland had 10 home runs and 62 runs batted in.
