The East Oktibbeha track and field teams like its prospects of seeing an individual state champion.
Five girls and 10 boys are competing for the Titans at Pearl High School today at the Class A track and field state meet.
"It is very big for the school," East Oktibbeha coach Randy Brooks said.
For the boys, all three relay teams advanced to the state meet. The 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams for the girls will be represented.
Terrence Rice won the open 400 at the North State meet last week.
"They all have a good chance," Brooks said. "One of the thing we have this year is more than one person in the field events."
In the field events, three guys are competing. Jamarquiz Page throws the discus, Jalen Peterson tosses the shot put and Juwan Roberts participates in the long jump.
"This is the first year we have had 15 people on the all-state team," Brooks said. "One of the best eight athletes in the state at your event."
Action begins at noon today at the Pearl High School track.
