The Mississippi State baseball program has quite a streak building against Tennessee.
With back-to-back sweeps against the Volunteers, the Bulldogs have now won eight-straight in the series. That is the longest streak by either team in the series.
Saturday's 14-inning game against Tennessee was the longest for MSU in the coach John Cohen era and the actual game time was 4 hours and 13 minutes. ... The Bulldogs have a ranking of No. 44 in the current RPI listing by Boyd's World. ... C.T. Bradford extended his on-base streak to five games, while Adam Frazier has reach in four-straight games. ... Matthew Britton's game-tying, two-run single in the sixth inning was the first multiple RBI hit of his career. With his 3-for-5 performance at the plate, Britton recorded his first multiple hit game. He also stole two bases during the game and is now 3-for-3 in stolen bases this season. ... Only five leadoff batters rreached base for MSU in the game. The only one that scored was Britton in the 14th inning.
Mississippi State has won eight out of last nine games, including seven out of last eight Southeastern Conference games. The Bulldogs have now won the last three SEC series (Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky). ... MSU has four softball players batting over .300. including Brittany Bell (.392), Ka'ili Smith (.370), Sam Lenahan (.336) and Jessica Cooley (.331). ... On Alumni Day, Ackerman native Chelsea Raines was recognized in the first inning. Raines was a two-year letterwinner in 2010-11 for the Bulldogs. She had 41 hits and scored 29 runs as a senior. ... MSU is 26-16 against Kentucky in series history including 15-5 in Starkville.

Saturday's appearance in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament was the first for the Bulldogs since 2006. ... MSU expects to earn its 21st NCAA bid all-time and is in position to potentially be selected as one of the 16 hosts for first and second round competition.
