Sportsplex hosts local musicians

The Starkville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a night of fun for the whole family Friday evening at the Sportsplex. Doors open at 7 p.m. Activities begin at 7:30 p.m. and last until 11:30 p.m. Admission is $5 person. Entertainment will be provided by Bill Davis of Starkville and Bobby Hood of Calhoun City.
Starkville Parks and Recreation Director Matthew Rye said he is looking forward to the event.
“It was one of our goals to provide more family entertainment for the public this year and this is one of those events,” Rye said. “Bill and Bobby have been doing this for a while and will provide some solid entertainment.”
Rye said he believes this will be an enjoyable evening for the whole community.
“If people like to listen to music from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, then they will enjoy this event,” Rye said. “This will be a laid back atmosphere inside the annex building at the Sportsplex, and we think the price is very affordable.”
Davis said he is looking forward to using his musical talents to entertain his friends, family and neighbors Friday night. Davis has been an Elvis impersonator for over 20 years and has played guitar, bass and drums in various groups since high school. He has also played in his church music section for 15 years.
“I just love to observe people enjoying music and having a good time, and that I can be the entertainer for any occasion is a great honor,” Davis said. “My wife calls me the ‘Music Man Deluxe.’”
Davis said he and Hood are happy to have the opportunity to play for the community and hope that everyone comes out to have a good time Friday night.
