ABERDEEN – The Starkville Lady Yellowjackets ended the regular season on a good note by defeating the Aberdeen Lady Bulldogs 60-40 on Friday night.
Starkville, which improved its record to 12-11, jumped out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and continued to expand it the rest of the game. The Lady Jackets held a 35-23 advantage at halftime.
Brittany Brown had a season-high 28 points for SHS, while Jacqueline Fair also scored in double digits with 12 points.
The Lady Jackets play host school Neshoba Central on Thursday in the first round of the Class 5A, Region 2 Tournament in Philadelphia. Tip time is set for 6 p.m.

ABERDEEN – The Yellowjackets finished the season strong and with some momentum headed into district tournament play.
The Jackets never trailed and opened up the first quarter with a 24-18 lead.
SHS was able to stretch its lead out to eight headed into locker room at halftime at 43-35.
They opened up a double digit lead in the third quarter and entered the final frame ahead 61-44.
The Jackets were led by Jacolby Mobley with 19 points. Mississippi State signee Gavin Ware had 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots.
Mike Brand had 17 points, six boards and six assists. Tory Rice added 10 points and 17 rebounds.
The Yellowjackets will again on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. when they play Neshoba Central in Philadelphia in the first round of the district tournament.
